The appropriate cable sizes for the battery and motor will also depend on the rating of the controller. For a a 300-400 amps controller, use 4 AWG wire. For a a 450-500 amps controller, use 2 AWG wire. And for a 600-650 amp controller, use 1/0-2/0 AWG wire.
