Yes, it is entirely normal for the controller to reduce performance if it overheats, as it's a thermal protection feature to prevent damage to the controller. To avoid this inconvenience, do not use the controller for undersized or oversized applications. Nonetheless, the controller's full current limit and performance will return automatically after it cools down.
